Start-ups
Start-ups also need
an A-Team!
(maybe even more)
YES Partners helps Start-ups

Most of YES Partners’ clients are established companies.

Over the past few years however the inquiries by Start-ups (especially early stage and pre-funding) has been increasing.

Here's Why

Apart from –idea –technology –product –market opportunity –validation, the company needs an A‑Team of Executives with experience in their areas or industries in order to establish the credibility and to get their initial funding.

YES Partners firmly believes that even a company with a B‑Product can be very successful with having an A‑Team, but a company simply having an A-Product does not automatically guarantee a success with (only) a B‑Team.

Forming a Team

When forming a Start-up team, it is important that the team has complementing skill-sets.

It is not important “who does what,” but it is crucial that someone in the team has the knowledge and understanding of the different functions of the company like Vision, Finance, Marketing, Sales, Management, Operations, Development and R&D.

Founders of Start-ups are often engineers, therefore in need to bring in business experience.

.
CEO Requirements

For a prefunding Start-up the typical requirements for the Chief Executive Officer are:

  • Industry product knowledge

  • Industry contacts

  • Previous started & built successful companies

  • Previously backed by Investors / VCs (Venture Capital)

  • Ideally produced successful ROI (Return of investment) for those Investors / VCs

.
Typical Positions to Fill

Apart from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), typical positions a Start-up needs to fill are:

  • Chief Operating Officer (COO)

  • Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – or initially a Controller

  • Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

  • Chief Information Officer (CIO)

  • VP / Director Sales & Marketing

  • VP Operations

.
Experts might be needed

Depending on the stage of the company, different experts might be needed to grow the company, grow it geographically, or if for example an IPO (Initial Public Offering) is planned the Management Team (CEO, CFO) should ideally have prior IPO experience.

If the current management does not have this knowledge, YES Partners often helps the company to find those specific executives a company needs.
