Confident CEOs still enjoy work despite intense schedule

To be successful in business, it helps to have a genuine passion even during hard times. Multiple examples exist of CEOs who not only feel strongly about their business, but about business in general and working in a fast-paced environment. Chief executives who carry that kind of enthusiasm influence their c-level staff and transform the entire company with a positive, work-focused attitude.

A CBS profile on Don Thompson, the CEO of McDonald's, made several mentions of how happy he is walking around the company headquarters. Even though he acknowledges the pressures that his company faces regularly, Thompson is described as "disarmingly down to earth," acknowledging his roots as a former kitchen employee and talking to other employees with enthusiasm.

Meeting a high-stress environment with a smile is a tall order, but it makes a major difference in the way others perceive your company. Another example of someone who is thriving in an intense environment is Dan Driscoll of reQwip.com. In his case, he is voluntarily putting himself through a different job in his spare time.

In a special guest post for VentureBeat, this startup CEO moonlights as a driver for the rideshare company Uber. Driscoll says that the fast pace of this other job fuels his passion for working in general. Picking up strangers as an Uber driver is, in his words, not a step down from being a CEO but "a step up," giving him a way to keep busy and have new experiences .

"There is no conflict between the demanding schedule of my startup career and my moonlighting as an Uber driver," he said. "It is truly a symbiotic relationship." Describing it in more detail, he says "I love the hustle. I love chasing the dream. And I love interacting with an eclectic range of interesting people."

What both CEOs have in common is their enjoyment for what they do and commitment to work, even when facing a high degree of stress. Management recruitment professionals will help you find an executive with that same level of commitment.
