Apart from –idea –technology –product –market opportunity –validation, the company needs an A‑Team of Executives with experience in their areas or industries in order to establish the credibility and to get their initial funding.

Forming a Team

For a prefunding Start-up the typical requirements for the Chief Executive Officer are:

  • Industry product knowledge

  • Industry contacts

  • Previous started & built successful companies

  • Previously backed by Investors / VCs (Venture Capital)

  • Ideally produced successful ROI (Return of investment) for those Investors / VCs

Typical Positions to Fill

Apart from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), typical positions a Start-up needs to fill are:

  • Chief Operating Officer (COO)

  • Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – or initially a Controller

  • Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

  • Chief Information Officer (CIO)

  • VP / Director Sales & Marketing

Experts might be needed

Depending on the stage of the company, different experts might be needed to grow the company, grow it geographically, or if for example an IPO (Initial Public Offering) is planned the Management Team (CEO, CFO) should ideally have prior IPO experience.
