Your company’s story, and your industry’s story

Your business is part of a larger narrative, and the person deemed worthy of being granted your company's CEO responsibilities should understand how the things your company does interact with other important industry players.

There's perhaps no keener indication of the relationships your company will have to maintain than the interaction between software and hardware. And when it comes to that, the recent "console wars" have taken a major spotlight in the cultural mindset, with electronics games producers dragged into the fray just as much as the companies that are producing the PS4 and XBox One devices.

In terms of planning, responding to consumer complaints, and staying strong, the CEO of any games company has a lot to lose if they falter during moments like these. Andrew Wilson, the CEO of major games company Electronic Arts, recently gave an official statement on the company website expressing his support for these two systems in the midst of the debate over their usefulness.

There have been concerns about the specific products that EA makes, but those might also be related to the grander concerns about the new consoles. What tactic is best in this situation? In addition to promising incentives to gamers as an apology for recent setbacks, Wilson stressed that these issues are related to the greater need for consumers to understand how the newer consoles work.

"I do think we have built a strong foundation, so we're accelerating a number of game updates to address your biggest issues, including improving the way the game teaches the new gameplay controls," he said.

If there's a connection between what you do and what another company does, your chief executive can use the authority earned through their CEO tenure to help explain these things, or at least define what they are, and YES Partners can help recognize who is best at doing this important task.

Finding people is easy, but finding the RIGHT people is not. YES Partners helps companies FIND the right people – for all company functions, across many industries and globally.
