Find a CEO who is ‘raising the bar’ for talent

Despite the constant pressure of CEO responsibilities, chief executives are more effective when they take the time to promote good talent and favor strong performance from all workers. During the executive recruitment process, businesses need to pay attention to the candidates who will take this aspect of their position seriously.

Writing for ERE.net, analyst Dr. Charles Handler discusses the important role that assessing talent plays for the leader of any enterprise. According to him, this is one of the most underrated aspects of the position: If a CEO takes the time to focus on talent assessment, the company will be better poised for profitability and customer retention. Not taking advantage of this results in what he calls an "epic fail."

"CEOs should have talent assessment top of mind and any CEO who says they are concerned about talent in their organization but doesn't use talent assessments is not putting his/her money where their mouth is," Handler writes. "CEOs know that getting the right talent in the right place is critical to all business outcomes."

This assessment should reveal flaws in workers that need to be addressed. Talent and risk go hand in hand: A CEO placed through the work of a consultant can pass it forward by looking for talent in their co-workers and helping them succeed. With this sort of mindset, it's easier to work with the strengths and weaknesses of the individual.

A recruitment consultant helps in the placement of a talented executive, and that person in turn sets the standard for talent within their new organization.
