Use a recruiter and avoid a hiring disaster

There are bad hiring practices, and then there are giant mistakes that can lead to disaster if not corrected.

What are these practices and how can you avoid them? In a piece for ERE, Mark Debinski writes about some of the errors that can lead to recruiting problems. A recruitment consultant can work to ensure that your business steers clear of them.

The way Debinski describes it, bad decisions can stem from a lack of professionalism and a weak will when it comes to selecting candidates. Although they should be open to possibilities, he argues that a good recruiter will stick to their gut feelings and avoid nepotism or "groupthink." These are very likely pitfalls when there's pressure on a business to find someone fast, and someone who has access to a professional service will be in a better position to navigate them.

Along similar lines, Debinski notes the way that inexperienced hirers might try to stick to an overly complicated schedule and badly organized procedure.

"Some hiring managers fall into the 'more is better' mindset and make the interviewing process more time consuming and laborious than necessary," Debinski writes. "Good candidates often opt out of consideration for positions because they deemed the process excessive."

With recruiters who are dedicated and experienced, you can find the person with the right profile to help your business reach new heights. Executive search consultants make management recruitment and hiring considerably easier for everyone involved.
