This number is expected to balloon as improved enterprise communications technology materializes and more businesses embrace this operational quirk in an effort to increase productivity. Internal recruiters looking to fill these positions must not only pinpoint potential hires who can perform the basic job duties and have suitable industry experience, but also possess the extra skills needed to navigate a remote working arrangement. For example, work-from-home candidates must have top-notch communication skills so as to effectively connect with fellow workers and managers, SHRM found. Additionally, candidates must exhibit self-discipline and motivation, as they will have to contend with unique distractions normally not found in the workplace.
